Youth In Transition (YIT)
The Youth in Transition (YIT) study follows young individuals over an extended period who are receiving treatment at addiction care institutions in the Netherlands. The study aims to identify which characteristics and traits of these young people are considered "advantageous" and which are "disadvantageous" to the course of their treatment and the porgression of their addiction.
The YIT study is currently ongoing and involves three scheduled appointments for participants. During the first appointment, we conducted interviews with young individuals who were about to begin treatment in youth addiction care. Over 420 young people from across the Netherlands participated in these interviews at various addiction care institutions. The second appointment took place two years after the initiation of treatment, and we are pleased to report that many participants were able to meet with us again at that time. The first of the third appointments, which occur four years after the start of their treatment, were conducted in January 2023.
